Digital Accessibility

UC Santa Barbara is dedicated to ensuring that our digital content and information technology are accessible to all, providing equal access to the university's knowledge, insights, and resources.

This guide defines a standardized process for verifying WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility across UCSB websites.

Evaluation Sequence

  1. Upstream Developers – Verify templates, modules, and themes; run automated CI/CD tests and conduct assistive technology spot-checks.

  2. Site Builders / Developers – Run site-level evaluation and configuration testing.

  3. Content Editors – Validate accessible content, media, and documents before publishing.

  4. Site Builders / Developers (Review Phase) – Confirm results, assist with remediation, and finalize accessibility verification.
